The Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly will adopt the National e‑Vidhan Application (NeVA) to eliminate paper use in its proceedings.

The Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly announced that it will transition to a fully paperless workflow by implementing the National e‑Vidhan Application (NeVA). The move is part of a broader government push to digitise legislative processes across states, aiming to reduce manual handling of documents and improve efficiency.

NeVA provides a secure, cloud‑based platform for drafting, circulating, and voting on bills, motions and other parliamentary business. By moving these functions online, legislators can access documents in real time from any device, cutting down on printing costs and the time required for physical distribution.

State officials said the system will be rolled out ahead of the next session, with training sessions scheduled for members and staff. The initiative aligns with the central government's digital governance agenda and is expected to set a precedent for other state assemblies.

The transition is also projected to enhance transparency, as the digital records can be archived and made accessible to the public through official portals, fostering greater citizen engagement with the legislative process.
