A delegation from the central government inspected coalfields in Meghalaya to evaluate and promote scientific mining methods.
A central government delegation visited the coalfields of Meghalaya to assess the state’s coal reserves and explore the application of scientific mining techniques.
The inspection, carried out by officials from the Ministry of Mines, focused on evaluating the current mining practices and identifying opportunities for adopting advanced technologies.
Experts noted that Meghalaya’s coal deposits, while modest in size, hold potential for contributing to the region’s economy if mined sustainably.
The team’s visit is part of a broader effort to promote safer, more efficient mining operations across India, aligning with national goals of resource optimization and environmental stewardship.
Further steps will involve detailed feasibility studies and potential collaboration with research institutions to implement best practices in the state’s coal sector.
