A consumer who bought a car advertised to deliver 18.5 km per litre received only 8‑10 km per litre and was awarded Rs 75,000 in compensation.

A consumer who purchased a vehicle after it was marketed to achieve a fuel efficiency of 18.5 km per litre discovered that the car was delivering only between 8 and 10 km per litre on regular use.
The discrepancy between the advertised mileage and the actual performance prompted the buyer to seek redress through the appropriate consumer forum.
The forum ruled in the consumer's favour and ordered a compensation payment of Rs 75,000 to the buyer for the shortfall in promised fuel economy.
