The Border Security Force and Punjab police carried out a joint raid in Amritsar, confiscating 23 kilograms of heroin.
In a coordinated operation in Amritsar, the Border Security Force (BSF) teamed up with Punjab police to target a suspected drug trafficking hub. The joint raid resulted in the seizure of 23 kilograms of heroin, a substantial haul for law‑enforcement agencies in the region.
Officials said the narcotics were recovered from a concealed storage site after intelligence inputs indicated a large‑scale shipment was being prepared for distribution. The amount seized underscores the growing challenge of drug smuggling along the Indo‑Pak border, where the BSF maintains a critical security presence.
The agencies have not disclosed the identities of the individuals involved, but they confirmed that the contraband will be forwarded to forensic labs for further analysis. The seizure is expected to bolster ongoing anti‑narcotics efforts and serve as a deterrent to similar operations in the state.
Law‑enforcement sources indicated that additional investigations are underway to trace the supply chain and prevent further infiltration of illicit drugs into Punjab and neighboring regions.
