Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary announced today that the Bihar government has credited ₹579 crore into the bank accounts of 8.27 lakh families who suffered losses due to recent floods. The funds are part of the state’s emergency relief package aimed at providing immediate financial assistance to flood‑hit households.
The floods have affected roughly 50,000 individuals across 15 districts of Bihar, disrupting livelihoods and damaging property. By depositing the money directly into beneficiaries' accounts, the administration hopes to expedite relief and enable families to meet urgent needs such as food, medical care and rebuilding homes.
Chaudhary emphasized that the government will continue to monitor the situation and extend additional support where required. He urged affected residents to cooperate with relief agencies and assured that further assistance will be mobilised as the recovery process unfolds.
The move comes as part of Bihar’s broader disaster response strategy, which includes rescue operations, temporary shelters and the distribution of essential supplies. State officials are also coordinating with central agencies to ensure a swift and coordinated response to the ongoing crisis.
