Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the transfer of ₹1,237 crore to over 1.8 crore beneficiaries under Bihar's social security pension scheme.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar confirmed that the state treasury has moved ₹1,237 crore to more than 1.8 crore eligible pensioners under the social security pension scheme. The transfer is part of Bihar's ongoing effort to provide regular financial support to senior citizens, widows, disabled persons and other vulnerable groups.
The funds will be credited to the beneficiaries' bank accounts through the state's direct benefit transfer system, ensuring timely and transparent disbursement. Officials said the massive payout reflects the government's commitment to strengthening the social safety net in the state.
The pension scheme, launched several years ago, aims to alleviate poverty among the elderly and marginalized sections of society. By channeling such a large sum in a single operation, the administration hopes to reinforce confidence in its welfare programs ahead of upcoming fiscal assessments.
