A farmer in Bhilwara harvested a bumper tomato crop on 20 bighas, earning about ₹30 lakh and presented a 250‑gram silver tomato to a local philanthropist.

Bhilwara, Rajasthan – A small‑holder farmer cultivated tomatoes on roughly 20 bighas of land and reported a bumper harvest that generated close to ₹30 lakh in revenue. The farmer, who has been growing the vegetable for several seasons, said the unusually high yield was driven by favorable weather and the adoption of improved seed varieties.

Having pledged a vow (mannat) to thank a benefactor for his success, the farmer fulfilled it by presenting a 250‑gram silver‑coated tomato to a local figure known as Saanvaliya Seth. The unique gift, crafted from pure silver, was handed over in a modest ceremony attended by neighbours and fellow growers.

The episode highlights the growing profitability of tomato cultivation in Rajasthan’s central districts, where market prices have risen sharply in recent months. Agricultural experts note that such high‑value crops can transform the livelihoods of marginal farmers, provided they have access to quality inputs and reliable market channels.
