The Assam administration has prolonged the window for submitting house‑listing applications in districts devastated by recent floods, giving residents more time to claim relief benefits.

The state government announced an extension of the house‑listing window for families whose homes were damaged in the recent floods across several districts of Assam. The revised deadline, now set for the end of October, replaces the earlier cut‑off that expired in early September. Officials said the move aims to ensure that more flood‑affected households can register their properties and access compensation under the relief scheme.

The extension applies to all districts declared flood‑hit by the state disaster management authority, including Kamrup, Barpeta, and Dhubri. Relief officers will continue to verify damage reports and update the official database, allowing eligible families to receive financial assistance for reconstruction.

State Disaster Management Commissioner Prasanta Kumar Dutta urged affected residents to submit accurate documentation promptly, emphasizing that the extended period is a one‑time concession to address delays caused by disrupted communications and transportation during the flood emergency.

The government has also pledged to expedite the processing of approved listings, with an aim to disburse funds before the onset of the winter season, thereby mitigating further hardship for the displaced population.
