The BJP unit in Arunachal Pradesh backed the removal of bogus entries from electoral rolls, calling it essential and accusing opposition parties of obstructing the clean‑up.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Arunachal Pradesh publicly endorsed the ongoing effort to delete fictitious names from the state's electoral rolls, describing the action as a necessary step to preserve the integrity of the voting process. Party officials said that eliminating bogus entries helps ensure that each legitimate voter is counted only once and prevents manipulation of election outcomes.

In doing so, the state BJP also expressed support for the SIR initiative, which it described as a systematic approach to verify and update voter records. The party highlighted that the measure aligns with the Election Commission's guidelines and is aimed at strengthening democratic institutions.

Opposition parties, however, have raised objections, arguing that the deletions could disenfranchise genuine voters. The BJP dismissed these concerns as politically motivated, accusing the opposition of trying to stall a legitimate clean‑up for electoral advantage.

Analysts note that the controversy comes ahead of the next state assembly elections, making the issue of voter‑list accuracy a focal point for political campaigns across the region.
