Arunachal Minister Urges Boost in Mithun and Livestock Development

Arunachal Pradesh’s Minister Gabriel Wangsu has publicly urged the state and central governments to intensify efforts aimed at strengthening mithun farming and broader livestock development across the Northeast.\n\nThe mithun, a semi‑aquatic bovine native to the region, plays a vital role in the livelihoods of many rural communities. Wangsu highlighted that improving its breeding, health care and market access could boost income for thousands of families.\n\nWhile the minister did not outline specific policy measures, he called for increased investment in veterinary services, training for herders and the creation of better supply chains for mithun products.\n\nExperts say that a focused approach could help the state tap into a niche market, potentially raising the profile of Northeast livestock on national and international platforms.
