The Union government inaugurated the Khet Bachao Abhiyan‑Rabi 2026, a country‑wide programme aimed at safeguarding Rabi crops, with the launch ceremony held in Haryana today.
New Delhi – The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare officially launched the Khet Bachao Abhiyan‑Rabi 2026 from Haryana today. The programme is designed to provide technical and financial support to farmers across the country during the Rabi season, with an emphasis on water‑efficient practices and crop‑insurance measures.
During the launch event, senior officials highlighted the scheme's focus on preventing crop loss caused by erratic weather and pest infestations. The central government has pledged to coordinate with state agricultural departments to ensure timely dissemination of best‑practice guidelines and access to subsidised inputs.
The initiative forms part of a broader effort to strengthen food security and improve farm incomes ahead of the upcoming harvest. State officials in Haryana are expected to roll out awareness camps and field demonstrations in the coming weeks to mobilise farmers.
Stakeholders, including farmer organisations, have been invited to provide feedback on implementation challenges, ensuring the scheme remains responsive to ground realities. The Ministry will monitor progress through periodic reports and adjust support mechanisms as needed.
The launch marks a coordinated step by the centre to address the recurring vulnerabilities of the Rabi cropping cycle and to reinforce resilience across India's agrarian landscape.
