Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that the state will issue 5.6 million pattadar passbooks to landowners by March 2027, aiming to complete the digitisation of land records.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu told reporters that the government will hand over 5.6 million pattadar passbooks to landholders by the end of March 2027. The announcement was made during a press briefing on the progress of the state's land‑record modernisation drive.
The pattadar passbook, a certified document that records ownership and transaction details of agricultural land, is being issued under the state’s ongoing effort to digitise land records and replace outdated paper certificates. The Revenue Department has been tasked with printing, verifying and distributing the books across all districts, with a phased rollout that begins in the most densely populated regions.
Officials said the scheme will streamline land‑related transactions, reduce disputes and improve access to credit for farmers, as banks increasingly rely on verified land documents for loan approvals. The government has set up a monitoring cell to ensure the target is met within the stipulated timeline, and will provide regular updates on the distribution progress.
