The Youth wing of the Indian National Congress has started a statewide campaign in Punjab, urging the state government to expedite recruitment for unfilled positions.

New Delhi – The youth faction of the Indian National Congress began a coordinated campaign across Punjab on Monday, calling on the state administration to accelerate hiring for a range of vacant posts in the public sector. Organisers staged rallies in several districts, distributing pamphlets that list the number of unfilled positions in departments such as education, health and municipal services. They argue that the delays in recruitment are hampering service delivery and contributing to unemployment among educated youth.

Party leaders said the drive aims to pressure the Punjab government to announce a clear timetable for filling the vacancies and to ensure transparent, merit‑based selection. The campaign also seeks to highlight what they describe as a systemic neglect of recruitment norms, which they claim has led to a backlog of applications and under‑staffed offices.

While the state government has not yet responded publicly, officials have previously indicated that budgetary constraints and procedural bottlenecks are causing the slowdown. The Youth Congress has pledged to continue its outreach, planning further meetings with senior officials and filing formal petitions to demand swift action.
