Both Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul failed to make an impact in their opening matches of the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season.
The 2026-27 Ranji Trophy kicked off with high expectations for two of India’s leading batsmen, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, who have been mainstays in the national side.
In the opening fixtures, both players struggled to find rhythm, getting out early and contributing little to their teams' totals, a stark departure from their recent international form.
Their subdued performances have prompted discussions among coaches and analysts about the need for adjustments ahead of upcoming international commitments, while their state sides now face added pressure to compensate for the shortfall.
