WTO Urges India to Close Structural Gaps for 2047 Vision

✍️ Business Standard 🗓 22 Jul 2026, 04:48 AM 👁 2

The World Trade Organization has warned that India must address existing structural gaps to achieve its Viksit Bharat goal by 2047.

The World Trade Organization recently highlighted India’s need to address structural gaps to realize its Viksit Bharat vision by 2047. The statement, made during a WTO meeting, points to challenges in trade policies, infrastructure and regulatory frameworks that could hinder growth. India’s Viksit Bharat agenda aims to position the country as a developed nation by the 75th year of independence. While the Indian government has not yet responded formally, the WTO’s remarks may prompt a review of policies to align with the long‑term development goal.
