Women Receive Awards at Mohali’s Diwali Festival

Mohali hosted a special Diwali festival where a ceremony was held to recognise the achievements of local women. The event, organized by municipal authorities and community groups, presented awards across categories such as social service, entrepreneurship and cultural promotion. Recipients were invited on stage to receive plaques and cash prizes in front of a gathering of families and officials.

Organisers highlighted that the awards aim to encourage greater female participation in public life and to showcase role models for younger generations. The ceremony also featured traditional performances, lighting of diyas and a communal feast, reflecting the festive spirit of Diwali.

Local officials praised the initiative, noting that such recognitions help strengthen community bonds and promote gender‑inclusive development in Punjab. The awards will be recorded in the city’s annual cultural report and similar events are planned for future festivals.
