The 2028 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) guidelines specify who must appear and confirm that failure does not automatically lead to dismissal.

The Central and State education authorities have released detailed guidelines for the 2028 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). The circular lists all categories of teachers – from primary to secondary – who are required to sit for the exam to retain or obtain their teaching posts.

According to the official notification, a failed TET result does not trigger immediate termination. Instead, teachers are given a remedial period during which they can retake the exam or undergo additional training as prescribed by the respective state education department.

The move aims to balance quality assurance in classrooms with job security for educators, ensuring that the recruitment process remains transparent while avoiding abrupt dismissals.

Education officials have urged schools to inform their staff about the new timelines and support mechanisms, emphasizing that the primary goal is to uplift teaching standards across the country.
