A wild elephant entered corn fields near Seoni in Madhya Pradesh, alarming farmers as the forest department deployed drones to track its movements.
An adult wild elephant was sighted moving through corn fields on the outskirts of Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, early on Monday. The unexpected presence of the animal caused panic among local farmers, who reported damage to standing crops and fear for their safety.
According to officials from the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department, the elephant appears to have strayed from its natural habitat in search of food. To prevent further crop loss and ensure public safety, the department activated drone cameras positioned around the affected area, allowing real‑time monitoring of the animal's movements.
Forest officials have urged residents to stay indoors and avoid approaching the elephant. They are coordinating with local police to secure the perimeter and are prepared to intervene if the animal poses a direct threat. The drones will continue to relay live footage to the command centre until the elephant is safely guided back to forested land.
Preliminary assessments suggest that the incident is isolated, with no reports of injuries. Authorities are also reviewing the possibility of creating additional deterrent measures to reduce future human‑wildlife conflicts in the region.
