West Bengal authorities have barred 38 pharmacy colleges from admissions and de-affiliated 14 ITIs, while clearing 337 B.Ed colleges for operations.

The West Bengal government has taken decisive action regarding the regulatory status of various educational institutions across the state. In a recent administrative move, 38 pharmacy colleges have been barred from conducting new admissions. This decision aims to ensure that only institutions meeting specific compliance standards are permitted to enroll students in pharmacy programs.

Simultaneously, the state authorities have de-affiliated 14 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). This step is part of a broader review process to maintain quality benchmarks in technical and vocational education. The de-affiliation implies that these institutes will no longer be recognized for their current affiliation status until further review.

In contrast to these restrictions, the state has also issued clearances for 337 Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) colleges. These institutions have been approved to continue their operations, ensuring that teacher training programs remain accessible to prospective candidates. The mixed outcomes reflect a targeted approach to regulating different sectors of the state's higher education landscape.
