Filmmaker Vinod Kannol has released his Malayalam short film ‘Voice Note’ on YouTube, where he examines how WhatsApp voice messages influence everyday communication.
Kerala‑based filmmaker Vinod Kannol launched his latest short film, titled “Voice Note”, on the video‑sharing platform YouTube on Wednesday. The 12‑minute Malayalam production is presented as a social commentary on the growing reliance on audio clips sent through WhatsApp.
The narrative follows a group of friends whose conversations increasingly shift from text to voice notes, highlighting both the convenience and the misunderstandings that arise from tone‑deprived communication. Through crisp editing and realistic dialogue, the film illustrates how instant audio messages can blur personal boundaries and alter interpersonal dynamics.
The short has been promoted by Kerala TV, which featured a brief interview with Kannol about his inspiration. Within hours of its online debut, the video garnered several thousand views and sparked discussion on social media platforms about the etiquette of voice messaging in everyday life.
