Villagers in Panaur, Bihar Protest After Dam Break, Surround Water Resources Officer

The dam collapsed in Panaur, a town in Saran district, Bihar, raising immediate concerns among local farmers. Villagers gathered at the site and surrounded JE Chandresh Kumar, the officer in charge of water resources, demanding accountability. Protesters accused the department of ignoring erosion control standards and using sand-filled pits that contributed to the breach. The officer explained that the dam was part of an irrigation project, but villagers insisted on a formal investigation. Local authorities are expected to respond, but no official statement has been released yet.
