In the latest municipal elections across Bikaner district, the Vikas Manch emerged as the dominant force in Nokha, winning an outright majority of seats. The result gives the regional outfit the authority to nominate the council’s executive board without needing support from rival parties.
Elsewhere in the district, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Indian National Congress have each secured footholds in different municipalities, leaving the composition of boards in Shri Dungargarh and Napasar uncertain. Both parties will now have to negotiate with independents or smaller groups to achieve the numbers required for a functional council.
