Punjab’s Veterinary University has initiated a drug‑addiction health foot‑march in Ludhiana to raise awareness and provide medical support to affected individuals.
The Veterinary University of Punjab announced a new initiative aimed at combating drug addiction in the city of Ludhiana. The campaign, dubbed the "Drug‑Addiction Health Foot‑March," will see students, faculty and local volunteers walk through key neighborhoods to distribute informational pamphlets and free health check‑ups.
The march is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Monday from the university campus and will cover a 5‑kilometre route that includes the main market area and the city’s rehabilitation centre.
Local health authorities and several non‑profit organisations have pledged support, providing medical kits, counseling staff and a mobile clinic to accompany the march.
Officials expect the event to reach over 3,000 residents, with the goal of encouraging early intervention and reducing the stigma surrounding addiction.
