In Varanasi, Kush Pandey stabbed his live‑in partner Dipanshu Rai to death after a drunken argument over washing dishes. Police arrested Pandey at the scene and the body is awaiting post‑mortem.

The incident occurred on Monday night in Varanasi when Kush Pandey, 28, allegedly stabbed his live‑in partner Dipanshu Rai, 26, to death during a quarrel that began over washing dishes after a night of drinking. The confrontation escalated when Pandey reportedly became violent, using a kitchen knife to strike Rai multiple times. Police arrived at the scene within minutes and arrested Pandey on charges of murder. Rai’s body was taken to the local hospital for a post‑mortem examination.

The couple had been living together for a year and were known to argue frequently after consuming alcohol. Witnesses say the couple had a history of domestic disputes, but no prior criminal record was found for either party.

Varanasi police have opened a murder investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby shops. They have also issued a statement urging the public to cooperate and provide any information that may help in the case.

The incident has sparked discussions on domestic violence within same‑sex relationships in India, highlighting the need for broader support systems and legal protections for LGBTQ+ couples.
