India’s flagship Vande Bharat Express has begun operations between Bengaluru and Goa, stopping at Mangaluru, offering a faster and comfortable travel option.
India’s flagship Vande Bharat Express has commenced service on the Bengaluru–Goa corridor, with a scheduled stop at Mangaluru. The inaugural run took place on 15 March 2024, marking a significant upgrade in connectivity between Karnataka’s capital and the popular Goan destination.
The train, built by the Integral Coach Factory, can reach speeds of up to 180 km/h and features 16 air‑conditioned coaches, including AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier, and a pantry car. Modern amenities such as onboard Wi‑Fi, charging points, and ergonomic seating enhance passenger comfort.
The service operates twice daily, with departures from Bengaluru at 06:30 and 14:45, arriving in Goa at 13:15 and 21:30 respectively. Tickets are available through the IRCTC portal and at major booking counters, with a fare ranging from ₹1,200 to ₹2,500 depending on the class.
Railway officials say the new link will reduce travel time by about two hours compared to the conventional route, boosting tourism and trade between Karnataka and Goa. The government also expects increased revenue and job creation along the corridor.
