The newly launched Vande Bharat service between Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Goa is expected to have the lowest average speed among all Vande Bharat routes in India.
The Vande Bharat Express that recently began operations between Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Goa will be the slowest of all Vande Bharat routes in India, according to railway officials. While the train is marketed as a high‑speed service, the average speed on this corridor is projected to be lower than the national average due to the challenging terrain and track conditions along the coastal stretch.
The route covers a distance of roughly 700 kilometres and includes several intermediate stops, which together reduce the overall average speed. Railway authorities have cited the need for additional track upgrades and signalling improvements to bring the speed in line with other Vande Bharat services.
Despite the lower average speed, the train will still offer modern amenities such as onboard Wi‑Fi, automatic doors and a comfortable seating arrangement, maintaining the brand’s reputation for passenger comfort.
Passengers travelling on the Bengaluru‑Mangaluru‑Goa Vande Bharat can expect a journey time that is slightly longer than other Vande Bharat routes, but the service remains a significant upgrade over conventional express trains on the same corridor.
