The Uttarakhand government has created a dedicated cell to handle welfare issues and grievances of retired Agniveers, the soldiers recruited under the 2022 scheme.

Uttarakhand announced the formation of a dedicated cell aimed at addressing the welfare concerns of retired Agniveers, the cohort of soldiers enlisted under the 2022 recruitment drive. The cell will operate under the state's Department of Ex‑Servicemen Welfare and will serve as a single‑window interface for pension matters, medical assistance, and post‑service employment support.

The initiative seeks to streamline grievance redressal by consolidating various government departments that interact with former armed‑forces personnel. Officials said the cell will maintain a database of retirees, track pending benefits, and coordinate with central defence ministries to ensure timely disbursement of entitlements.

The move comes as part of Uttarakhand's broader effort to strengthen support systems for its defence community, acknowledging the unique challenges faced by Agniveers after completing their service tenure.
