The Economic Offences Branch arrested Kunwar Javed Rao from Laksar, Haridwar, for allegedly exceeding the authority of a registered General Power of Attorney to conduct land deals worth Rs 4.60 crore in Dehradun.

The fraud case came to light after a complaint was filed regarding illegal transfer of property using a General Power of Attorney that did not authorize such transactions.
Investigations by the Economic Offences Branch revealed that the accused, Kunwar Javed Rao, had used the GPA to sell or mortgage land parcels valued at approximately Rs 4.60 crore without the owner's consent.
Acting on the evidence, a team from the EOB apprehended Rao in Laksar, Haridwar, and he is currently in police custody for further questioning.
Police said the seized documents and transaction records are being examined to identify any additional victims or properties involved in the scheme.
The case is being prosecuted under sections of the Indian Penal Code related to cheating, forgery and criminal breach of trust.
