The Uttarakhand government has directed a formal investigation into allegations that forged certificates were used to secure seats in state medical colleges.

The state government of Uttarakhand announced a decision to launch an inquiry into the use of falsified certificates for admission to its medical colleges. The order, issued by the chief minister's office, calls for a thorough examination of admission records and related documentation.
Authorities said the move comes after complaints surfaced that some candidates presented forged academic and eligibility certificates to obtain seats in MBBS programs. Officials emphasized that the integrity of the merit‑based selection process must be preserved.
A special committee comprising senior officials from the health department, the state education board and law enforcement agencies will be formed to conduct the probe. The committee has been instructed to submit its findings within a stipulated timeframe and recommend corrective action, including possible cancellation of fraudulent admissions.
The investigation could affect dozens of students currently enrolled, and the government has warned that any individuals found guilty of fraud may face disciplinary measures and legal prosecution.
