The Uttarakhand Lok Mahotsav 2026 opened in Rohini, Delhi, showcasing the state's folk arts, music and cuisine to a diverse urban audience.
Delhi's Rohini neighbourhood became the venue for the Uttarakhand Lok Mahotsav 2026 on Saturday, as cultural officials inaugurated the three‑day event. The festival aims to promote the heritage of Uttarakhand by featuring traditional dance troupes, folk musicians, and artisans displaying hand‑crafted items.
Organisers from the Uttarakhand Tourism Department collaborated with local Delhi authorities to set up stages, exhibition stalls and food kiosks offering regional delicacies such as bhang ki roti and chainsoo. Over 500 visitors were recorded in the first few hours, indicating strong interest from both the Uttarakhand diaspora and Delhi residents.
The program includes daily performances of Chamoli and Garhwal folk dances, workshops on traditional instrument making, and a cultural parade scheduled for the final day. Security and crowd‑management measures have been put in place, and the event is expected to draw several thousand attendees before concluding on Sunday.
The Mahotsav is part of the state government's broader effort to increase cultural tourism and create platforms for artisans to reach wider markets. Officials said the success of the Delhi edition could pave the way for similar events in other metropolitan cities.
