A prototype electric flying car developed by an Uttarakhand resident could reduce a 90‑minute hill route to just 15 minutes, according to early tests.
A local engineer from Uttarakhand has unveiled a prototype electric flying car that could cut a 90‑minute hill‑top commute to just 15 minutes. The vehicle, powered by a lightweight battery pack, reportedly achieved a vertical lift of 200 meters during test flights over the Garhwal region.
During a demonstration held at a nearby airstrip, the pilot logged a 15‑minute flight covering a distance that normally takes a road trip of over an hour and a half. The prototype’s design incorporates a fold‑out rotor system and a streamlined fuselage to maximise lift and minimise energy consumption.
While the technology is still in the experimental phase, the inventor said the next steps include refining the battery chemistry for longer endurance and seeking regulatory clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. If successful, the flying car could transform travel for residents of Uttarakhand’s hilly districts, reducing travel time and easing congestion on narrow mountain roads.
