Uttarakhand forest officials destroyed 396,000 Sal borers, a beetle that threatens the state's forests, as part of a pest control initiative.
Uttarakhand forest officials carried out a pest control operation that destroyed 396,000 Sal borers, a beetle species known to threaten the state's forest ecosystems.
The Sal borer, which feeds on the bark of Sal trees, can cause significant damage to forest stands if left unchecked. By eliminating this large number of beetles, authorities aim to reduce the risk of widespread tree mortality.
The operation is part of a broader effort by the Uttarakhand Forest Department to safeguard forest resources and maintain ecological balance in the region.
