Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami told a crowd in Haridwar that the state government is launching a comprehensive programme to renovate and upgrade religious sites across Uttarakhand.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed a gathering in Haridwar, announcing that Uttarakhand will undertake a systematic transformation of its religious sites. He said the initiative will cover temples, shrines and pilgrimage centres, aiming to improve infrastructure, sanitation and visitor amenities.
The programme is slated to include structural renovations, better road connectivity, upgraded lighting and digital information kiosks to enhance the experience of devotees and attract tourists. Funding will be drawn from the state budget, with the possibility of central assistance for larger projects.
Dhami stressed that the work will be carried out in consultation with religious authorities and local communities to preserve the sanctity of the sites while introducing modern facilities. Implementation is expected to begin in the coming months, with priority given to high‑footfall locations.
