Uttarakhand has been announced as the 16th Indian state to receive the President’s Police Colours, recognizing the state's police force for exemplary service.

The President’s Police Colours, one of the highest honors for law‑enforcement agencies in India, has been conferred on Uttarakhand, making it the 16th state to receive the award. The accolade acknowledges the consistent professionalism, bravery and community‑oriented policing displayed by the Uttarakhand Police over recent years.

The award ceremony, held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, featured senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Uttarakhand state government. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the Director General of Police, Uttarakhand, accepted the colours on behalf of the force, highlighting achievements in disaster response, anti‑terror operations and public safety initiatives.

Officials noted that the recognition underscores the state's commitment to modernising its police infrastructure, enhancing training standards and fostering trust between citizens and law‑enforcement agencies. The President’s Police Colours will be displayed at the state police headquarters as a symbol of continued dedication.

The honour also places Uttarakhand alongside other distinguished states such as Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, reinforcing its growing reputation for effective policing in challenging terrains.

The award is expected to motivate further reforms and community‑policing programmes across the state, aligning with national security objectives and the broader vision of a safer India.
