The Uttar Pradesh government has stepped up surveillance of the Gandak and other cross‑border rivers following severe flash floods in Nepal.

Severe flash floods in Nepal have raised concerns in downstream Indian states, prompting the Uttar Pradesh administration to intensify monitoring of the Gandak River and other trans‑border waterways. Officials said the sudden rise in water levels in Nepal could affect flow patterns in the Indian side, especially during the monsoon season.

The state has deployed additional hydrological teams, installed real‑time water‑level sensors at key points along the Gandak, and is using satellite imagery to track river behavior. Coordination with the Central Water Commission and the Ministry of Earth Sciences has been strengthened to ensure timely data sharing.

While no immediate flood threat has been reported in Uttar Pradesh, authorities have issued advisories to district disaster management units to stay on high alert. The chief minister's office emphasized that continuous monitoring will help mitigate any potential impact on agriculture and settlements along the riverbanks.
