The Uttar Pradesh government has shut schools in several districts today due to heavy rain, even as students are slated to sit for scheduled examinations.
The state administration announced the closure of schools across several districts of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, citing persistent heavy rainfall that has disrupted normal commuting and posed safety risks. The decision was taken despite a major examination being scheduled for today, affecting thousands of students who were expected to appear for the test.
Education officials urged parents and students to stay home and avoid travel until conditions improve. They also directed schools to make alternative arrangements for the examination, such as postponement or relocation to safer venues, where feasible.
Transport authorities reported that many school buses and public vehicles were unable to operate due to waterlogged roads, reinforcing the need for the precautionary shutdown. The department assured that results and further instructions will be communicated promptly.
The move reflects the state's ongoing efforts to prioritize student safety during the monsoon season, which frequently brings localized flooding and disruptions across the region.
