Police arrested a man from Uttar Pradesh who pretended to belong to the Lawrence‑Godara gang and threatened a BJP leader in Haryana.
Police officials disclosed that a resident of Uttar Pradesh assumed the identity of a member of the notorious Lawrence‑Godara criminal outfit and used that false persona to threaten a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader in Haryana.
The investigation, prompted by the threat, led authorities to locate and apprehend the suspect, who is now in custody pending further legal action.
Law enforcement agencies emphasized that both impersonating a criminal gang and issuing threats against political figures constitute serious offenses under Indian law, and the accused will face appropriate charges.
The case underscores heightened vigilance by police in curbing intimidation tactics that target elected representatives across state lines.
