The Uttar Pradesh Food Safety Department seized khoya and collected 28 product samples during recent inspections before the festive season.
The Food Safety and Standards Department of Uttar Pradesh (FSDA) carried out a series of surprise inspections across the state as the festive season approached. Officials targeted wholesale and retail outlets that handle dairy products, aiming to ensure compliance with safety standards before the surge in demand.
During the raids, authorities confiscated a significant quantity of khoya, a milk‑based sweet ingredient widely used in Indian desserts. In addition to the seizure, FSDA collected 28 separate samples of dairy and related food items for laboratory testing.
The pre‑festival checks are part of the department's effort to curb adulteration and protect consumers from health risks. Results from the tests will determine whether further action, such as penalties or product recalls, will be taken against the implicated vendors.
