Heavy rains have persisted for 40 hours across 50 districts of Uttar Pradesh, putting 32 districts at risk of flooding and forcing the closure of schools in 36 districts.
Heavy rainfall has continued unabated for the past 40 hours, affecting 50 districts across Uttar Pradesh. Meteorological reports indicate that the sustained downpour has led to waterlogging in several low‑lying areas.
The state’s disaster management authorities have flagged 32 districts as being at high risk of flooding. In these zones, rivers and canals have swollen, and several villages are already experiencing rising water levels.
In response to the deteriorating conditions, the education department has shut down schools in 36 districts to safeguard students and staff. Parents have been advised to keep children indoors and monitor local advisories.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has urged residents to remain vigilant, follow official instructions, and avoid traveling to flood‑prone areas. He emphasized the importance of community cooperation in mitigating the impact of the rains.
