US envoy's Kashmir visit sparks diplomatic row with Pakistan

A senior US envoy appointed by former President Donald Trump visited the disputed Kashmir region, prompting Pakistan to accuse Washington of interference and sparking a diplomatic dispute.
Earlier this week, a senior United States envoy, selected by former President Donald Trump, travelled to the contested region of Kashmir. The visit, conducted in a private capacity, included meetings with local officials and a brief tour of the area.
Pakistan's foreign ministry condemned the trip, stating that it violated the country's sovereignty and amounted to unwarranted interference in a sensitive bilateral issue. Islamabad summoned the US ambassador to lodge a formal protest and warned of possible repercussions.
The United States, for its part, described the envoy's trip as a personal initiative and reiterated that it does not alter official US policy on the Kashmir dispute.
