The U.S. Special Representative for South Asia, Sergio Gor, suggested that Washington may lower its travel advisory for Jammu and Kashmir following a meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

The U.S. Special Representative for South Asia, Sergio Gor, met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in New Delhi earlier this week. During the discussion, Gor indicated that Washington is reviewing its travel advisory for the region and may downgrade it from the current level. The U.S. State Department has not yet issued an official change, but the envoy’s comments suggest a shift in the U.S. stance toward the disputed territory. The decision will be announced once the State Department completes its assessment of security conditions in Jammu and Kashmir.
