The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has opened its Mains examination today, with candidates undergoing identity and admit‑card verification before entering test centres nationwide.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) began the Mains stage of the Civil Services selection process today. Candidates who cleared the preliminary test arrived at designated examination centres after their identity and admit‑card were verified by officials.
Security personnel conducted standard checks, including photo‑ID verification and scanning of admit cards, before allowing candidates into the examination halls. The process was uniform across all centres to ensure fairness and prevent malpractice.
The Mains examination, which consists of nine written papers covering a range of subjects, is being conducted simultaneously in multiple cities across the country. Successful performance in these papers will determine the final merit list for the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service and other central services.
The commencement of the Mains marks a critical phase for aspirants, as it follows months of preparation and the highly competitive preliminary exam. Candidates now face a rigorous assessment that tests both depth of knowledge and analytical abilities.
UPSC officials have confirmed that the examination schedule will proceed as announced, with results expected later in the year, after which the interview stage will follow for the top candidates.
