The National Highways Authority of India has issued four fresh tenders for the proposed 700-km Shamli–Gorakhpur Expressway in Uttar Pradesh, pushing the major infrastructure project forward.

The proposed 700-kilometre Shamli–Gorakhpur Expressway in Uttar Pradesh has taken a significant step forward with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) floating four new tenders for the project. The expressway is among the major road infrastructure initiatives planned to improve connectivity across the state.

According to reports, the four tenders cover different segments of the corridor, marking the formal beginning of the process to invite bids from construction firms. The move indicates that the project is progressing from the planning stage towards execution.

The Shamli–Gorakhpur Expressway is expected to enhance road links between western and eastern Uttar Pradesh, reducing travel time and supporting regional economic activity. However, the exact timeline for the start of construction work will depend on how quickly the tendering process is completed and contracts are awarded.

Officials associated with the project have indicated that once the bids are finalised, further steps related to land acquisition and detailed project execution will follow. The expressway is being closely watched as one of the key highway developments in the state.
