A man from Uttar Pradesh has been arrested after allegedly hiring hitmen for Rs 3.5 lakh to murder his uncle over a land dispute.
A 45‑year‑old resident of Uttar Pradesh was taken into custody on Friday after police confirmed that he had hired professional killers to eliminate his uncle in a dispute over property ownership.
According to investigators, the victim’s uncle owned a parcel of land that the accused claimed as his rightful inheritance. When negotiations failed, the accused allegedly approached a known hit‑man network and paid Rs 3.5 lakh to carry out the murder.
The police seized the payment receipt and other evidence linking the accused to the hired killers. He has been charged under sections 302 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code, and the case has been forwarded to the Special CBI court for further proceedings.
The authorities have urged the public to report any information related to the case and have assured that the investigation will be thorough and swift.
