The ancient Sati Sthan temple in Samastipur, Bihar, worships a samadhi instead of an idol, a tradition linked to a 600‑year‑old local legend. During Navratri, a three‑day fair draws devotees from across the region and even from Nepal.

The Sati Sthan temple is situated in Dhruvagama village of Samastipur district. Local lore traces its origins to about six hundred years ago, linking it to a folk tale about a sati whose final resting place is venerated here.

Unlike typical temples that house idols, the sanctum of this shrine contains a samadhi, a memorial structure, which receives offerings and prayers from devotees. The ritual focuses on paying respect to the memorial rather than a sculpted deity.

During the Navratri festival, the temple grounds host a three‑day fair. Pilgrims from nearby villages and towns gather, and a noticeable number of visitors also come from neighboring Nepal to participate in the celebrations.

The details were reported by Amar Ujala's Darbhanga edition, highlighting the temple’s unique practice and its draw for worshippers during the festive period.
