Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said the lack of a clearly demarcated India‑China border is causing confusion in Arunachal Pradesh.
New Delhi – Union Minister Kiren Rijiju highlighted that the absence of a mutually agreed demarcation along the India‑China frontier is creating uncertainty in Arunachal Pradesh. He pointed out that the undefined stretches of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) have led to differing perceptions of the border on the ground, complicating administration and local development.
Rijiju emphasized that the confusion is not merely a cartographic issue but affects security, infrastructure projects and the daily lives of residents in the remote hill districts. He urged both diplomatic and ground‑level mechanisms to address the ambiguity and prevent any inadvertent escalation.
The minister’s remarks come amid ongoing talks between New Delhi and Beijing over the disputed frontier, where China continues to claim parts of Arunachal as “South Tibet.” While no immediate incidents were reported, the statement underscores the sensitivity of the border and the need for a clear, mutually accepted line.
India’s Ministry of Defence is reportedly reviewing the situation to ensure that border personnel have accurate maps and guidelines, aiming to reduce misunderstandings and maintain peace in the strategically important region.
