The Shri Siddhivinayak Temple in Ujjain was lavishly decorated in a golden theme for the Ganesh festival, with the deity receiving a Panchamrit abhishek, golden ornaments and an offering of 551,000 modaks, alongside a message on environmental protection.
The historic Shri Siddhivinayak Temple, situated within the precincts of the famed Mahakaleshwar complex in Ujjain, was transformed on the morning of the Ganesh festival. Organisers draped the sanctum in gold‑coloured fabrics and installed gleaming decorative elements, echoing the style of a "golden temple".
A ceremonial Panchamrit abhishek was performed, after which the idol was adorned with intricate gold jewellery. The ritual was followed by the distribution of an unprecedented 551,000 modaks, a traditional sweet offering to Lord Ganesha, symbolising prosperity and devotion.
Alongside the religious rites, the event highlighted an environmental conservation message, urging devotees to adopt eco‑friendly practices during celebrations. Officials emphasized that the grandeur of the occasion should be balanced with responsibility towards the surrounding ecosystem.
