On Tuesday, the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain observed Indira Ekadashi with a special bhang‑shaped moon and Om abhishek of Baba Mahakal, accompanied by a silver crown and other adornments.

On Tuesday, the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain marked Indira Ekadashi, the 11th day of the Ashwin Krishna Paksha, with a series of traditional rituals.

During the bhang‑shaped moon and Om decoration, priests used cannabis paste to carve the lunar and sacred symbols on the altar, a practice that has been part of the temple’s ceremonial repertoire for centuries.

The highlight of the day was the Panchamrit abhishek of Baba Mahakal, during which a silver crown and a mud mala were placed on the deity’s head and neck, symbolizing purity and devotion.

The ceremony drew a large crowd of devotees who gathered to witness the rites and offer prayers, underscoring the temple’s status as a major pilgrimage site in Madhya Pradesh.
