Ujjain to Host Grand Diya Festival with 2.5 Million Lamps on PM Modi’s Birthday

On Narendra Modi’s birthday, Ujjain will witness a massive diya lighting ceremony, with over 2.5 million lamps illuminating the Shipra ghats and Mahakal Lok, and BJP national president Nitin Nabeen to light the ‘Blessing Lamp’.
Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, is set to stage a spectacular Diya Festival on September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The event will see more than 2.5 million oil‑lamps lit along the historic Shipra river ghats and the Mahakal Lok precinct, creating a sea of light that stretches across the city’s sacred waterfront.
BJP national president Nitin Nabeen will arrive at the Ramghat area in the evening to ignite the specially designated “Blessing Lamp”, marking the official commencement of the celebrations. Organisers have coordinated with local authorities to ensure smooth crowd management and safety measures for the expected throngs of devotees and tourists.
The massive illumination is being promoted as a tribute to the Prime Minister’s birth anniversary and as a showcase of Ujjain’s cultural heritage. Officials anticipate that the visual spectacle will attract visitors from across the state, reinforcing the city’s reputation as a spiritual hub during festive occasions.
