A 5.30‑km elevated corridor costing about Rs 945.20 crore is under construction in Ujjain, linking the Indranagar‑Nilganga and Indore Gate‑Nikash Chowk zones to reduce traffic congestion.
Ujjain municipal authorities have launched an elevated corridor project spanning 5.30 kilometres, with an estimated outlay of Rs 945.20 crore. The infrastructure is designed to alleviate the growing traffic pressure in the city by providing a grade‑separated route.
The corridor will connect the Indranagar‑Nilganga stretch with the Indore Gate‑Nikash Chowk intersection, creating a continuous flyover that bypasses several congested junctions. Planners expect the new link to cut travel time for commuters and improve the flow of goods vehicles.
Construction is being carried out by the state’s public works department, with a target to complete the entire 5.30‑km stretch before the upcoming Singhasth deadline, a timeline set by the state government for major urban projects. Once operational, the elevated corridor is projected to handle a significant portion of the city’s traffic, enhancing safety and reducing fuel consumption.
The project is funded through a combination of state budget allocations and central government assistance under the urban development scheme, reflecting the priority given to infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh’s growth agenda.
